CARRION "the decaying flesh of dead animals"
This project uses an endangered animal in the Carolinian zone, in this case the Loggerhead Shrike, as inspiration and design reference for a product line. The loggerhead shrike is a small bird that has earned the nickname 'butcher-bird' through the gruesome and ruthless way it kills and then eats its prey, usually mice or smaller birds. The design mood board focuses on the plain and rather monotone colours of the bird, and juxtaposes it with the visceral and raw flesh of the dead animals upon which it feasts, with additional accents coming from its habitat. I want the final design to be dark and gritty, with a hint towards the gruesome, and some ideas of trees or grasslands evoked from the accents.
